My favorite coconut oil beauty uses as a bride-to-be

If you are a natural beauty lover, like I am, probably you heard about the benefits of using coconut oil in your daily beauty routine. If not, you need to know that coconut oil is a true miracle of nature. Beside all its health benefits, coconut oil has been used for centuries as a beauty treatment for hair, skin, nails, lips, and the list can go on and on. So, I always make sure I have two jars at home, one in the kitchen and one in the toilet. J Here is how I used coconut oil on my beauty regime as a bride-to-be, to really feel and look my best on my special day!

Hydration hair mask

In the wellness world this is definitely the trendiest way to use coconut oil. If you haven´t tried it, you have to give it a go! Its unique fat composition and hydration benefits makes it amazing to soothe dry hair. You have to apply it in your hair and leave it for 8 hours or sleep with it. Otherwise, you can even use it as a pre shampoo and leave it for at least an hour to have some of the benefits. Now, for all the brides-to-be that are looking to grow their hair for the special day, add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to your coconut oil. And, if you want extra shinny hair, you can even add some virgin olive oil.

Nourishing skin treatment

Coconut oil makes the perfect moisturizer too! Not only, coconut oil has hydrating properties, it is also rich in antioxidants. So you can use it in your body to have that extra glow or in your face as it can stop wrinkles and skin irritation. You can also use it as massage oil and add a few drops of lavender or other essential oil you love and practice some abhyanga (self-massage) while you apply it on your body.

Oil pulling for whiter teeth

Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurveda oral health technique that remove bacteria from our mouth and promote oral detoxification, healthy teeth and gums. I started doing it daily a few months before the wedding and people started asking if I did any whitening treatment! But guess what, I was just doing coconut oil pulling! For this technique, you simply have to gargle a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for a few minutes. After that, throw it out because it will be full of bacteria and brush your teeth very well. I promise you will have the best smile on your wedding day!

Relaxing beauty bath

Wedding planning can be very exhausting and stressful, so if you are a bride-to-be it is very important that you take extra good care of yourself during this special time. One of my favorite ways to relax, was taking a bath, which has beauty benefits too! Make sure you turn your phone off, light some candles, play a relaxing soundtrack and prepare your bath. Here are the top 3 ingredients I love to add to my baths:

  • Half cup coconut oil – for extra hydration and glowing skin
  • Half cup Epsom salt – for body detoxification and toxins removal
  • A few drops of lavender essential oil – for pure relaxation

Beauty body scrub

Coconut oil body scrub moisturizes your body while getting rid of dead skin cells making your skin glow even more! You simple have to mix coconut oil with coconut sugar or even normal sugar (if you want to get rid of the one you have in your cupboard!) to create an exfoliator. Try it twice a week before your shower and feel the benefits!

    Hi Inês,
I’ve also tried a face exfoliant using 2 teaspoons of coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of soda bicarb. I just rub it gently over my skin for about 3 minutes and then wash it off with some lukewarm water. I usually do this 2 times a week before I go to bed and my skin always looks silky smooth the following day! I used to have lots of pimples and none of the supermarket products used to work but ever since I’ve started doing this my skin has improved so much more. And now I use coconut oil for so many things, best product ever and so versatile! xx
