When I started following a more natural lifestyle not only I felt healthier and full of energy, but my skin, hair and eyes started to glow from the inside out and I felt more vibrant than ever! So today I want to share my top tips for having that radiant glow and rejuvenating skin without crazy expensive products, just by focusing on what nature has to offer.
Start your day with warm water with lemon
If you want beautiful and glowing skin make sure lemons are part of your daily diet, especially when you wake up! Besides aiding with digestion, lemons are truly supportive to the liver – our main detoxifying organ. And if you suffer from acne or want to clear your skin, you need to make sure your digestion is working well and you are really supporting your liver. Lemons are also extremely high in vitamin C that help fight damage caused by free radicals, and that keep the body producing collagen, essential in smoothing out lines and wrinkles in the face. Plus, lemons act as a blood purifier and as cleansing agent to flush out toxins from the body. Drinking water with lemon in the morning will not only maximize lemons benefits but will also give your body a hydration boost when it most needs.
Drink at least 2 liters of water every day
We all know that there are many health benefits of drinking water and, believe me, if you want to maintain a young, radiant and glowing skin, hydration is key! I encourage you to start drinking at least 2 liters of clean filtered water a day and feel the difference on your skin. Hydrated skin means beautiful skin and hydrations starts with what you put inside your body, plus water eliminates toxins and waste from our body. I know how easy is to forget to drink water, so always carry a glass water bottle with you wherever you go. Also, try to make it as appealing as possible! Add some mint leaves, cucumber, ginger, squeeze of lemon juice or even fruits! Not only, it will taste delicious but will also have extra benefits for your body!
Understand that you are what you eat
When it comes to beauty, we really are what we eat and it´s time to start understanding the connection between what we put inside our bodies and how we look. I believe that true beauty comes from the inside out! If you start nourishing your body with the right nutrients, it will always reflect on the outside! So the key is, eat real foods! Make sure you eat vibrant and colorful meals full of antioxidant, enzyme, mineral, and nutrient rich foods. Add more greens and veggies to each meal, try making regular green drinks, add antioxidant foods that protect your cells like berries and eat lots of healthy fats like avocado, coconut, nuts and seeds. So many people are afraid of fats, but they are amazing for your skin and hair! Taking care of your digestion is also important if you want to look your best, so make sure to add lots of probiotic rich foods like sauerkraut. And, of course, avoid anything packaged and processed and try to stay away from gluten, refined sugar, alcohol, excess caffeine and dairy. It´s also important to be careful with pesticides, so try to shop local and organic when possible.
Go make up free whenever you can and use natural products on your skin
It´s time to start embracing your natural beauty, plus when you start eating well your skin will look so amazing that you don´t have to cover it all the time. So, aim to wear no makeup a few days per week or, at least, try not to wear excessive make up most of the days. Excessive make up clogs our pores and ages us, specially make up made from synthetic and toxic ingredients. I really didn´t know what was a mascara or a foundation until I was 18 and even today you will be lucky if you see me wearing makeup. I think there is nothing like a healthy and natural look! Also, whatever we put on our skin gets absorbed straight into our bloodstream, so choose natural make up and beauty products that nourish your skin from the outside in. I just love trying new natural beauty products, and even foods that I would actually eat, on my skin or hair like coconut oil, avocado, olive oil or honey.
Sleep well and decrease stress levels
Now, if you really want to have that vibrant and glowing look, shiny and bright eyes and be dark circle free for life, you have to make rest a priority! Sleep is not a luxury, it´s a necessity! I try to commit to 8 hours of sleep every single day so I can feel and look my best. Why do you think they call it beauty sleep? When we sleep many restorative functions happen in our body, like tissue repair and skin regeneration. Besides sleeping well, it´s really important to decrease stress levels because it can be very aging and damaging for our skin. So, be sure to fit in time every day for a relaxing walk, yoga, reading a book, sitting in silence or belly breathing. Breathing exercises are really some of my favorite as they can automatic relax us and truly reduce free radicals and oxidative stress.
